Maryland-Shortland Scout Group provides young people aged 5 to 18 with fun and challenging opportunities to grow through adventure.
Our unit meetings for our youth groups are held Monday – Wednesday night.
We always welcome new members, so why not come and try Scouting!
Our Scout Group covers Fletcher, Maryland, Wallsend, Shortland, Minmi, Cameron Park and surrounding areas.
Focused on fun and building friendships, Joeys is the first introduction to the Scouting movement. Joeys express themselves through creativity and games designed to help them enjoy, understand and experience the world around them.
Cubs are all about adventure! During their meetings, they focus on developing life skills and taking responsibility for their actions. Cubs develop confidence and learn traditional scouting skills such as knot tying, orienteering and outdoor adventures.
Scouts gives young people the opportunity to build confidence by taking responsibility for their own adventures and leading others. They develop independence and self sufficiency in a fun, exciting and adventurous way through various physical pursuits.
Venturers broaden their perspectives and push their own boundaries in a fun, self motivated, and adventurous way. They have the opportunity to expand friendships and serve the community in challenges that are best suited to their own life skills and goals.
As one of the world’s largest and most successful youth organisations, Scouts has been the pinnacle of youth development since the movement’s inception in 1907. With over 18,000 members in Scouts NSW alone, the organisation is well versed in helping today’s youth develop life skills such as leadership, teamwork and resilience.
Scouts encourage young people to learn and grow in a challenging yet supportive environment, allowing them to achieve their goals and succeed at life’s ongoing challenges.

The Maryland Shortland Scout Hall is available for hire when not being utilised by the scouting meetings. Booking is able to be made for group gatherings, social clubs and events. Conveniently located opposite Fletcher Village shopping centre.
